Superficiality, the pursuit of fashion, and coming to terms with myself.

(Taken from my Tumblr)
I think this is going to be the first time I've written a Tumblr text post. If not the first, this will be a first in a really long while. Allow me to thresh out a thought I've been carrying in me for quite a while. Perhaps, you could say this is my way of exorcising demons, coming to terms with myself and my art, and seeing things through a fresh perspective.

Let's begin.

Cook It! Sago-Mango Custard/ Ice Cream

Sunday, February 20, 2011 Jonette 3 Comments

Back to more appetizing things.

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky to find plump, ripe, and delicious-smelling mangoes from the wet market I frequent. I had been meaning to create a mango-flavored version of the sago-cheese custard recipe, and this was pretty much the biggest GO!-signal for me. I took three of these babies home, just to make sure.

This experiment was meant to follow the same steps and ingredients for the original recipe mentioned above. I only had to substitute the grated cheese for pureed mangoes.

Murder Presents.

Hi, everyone. I've a few blog posts I need to start writing, but I'm currently nursing a cold and am light-headed, so please do bear with me. I'm still knitting my frayed nerves back (just a bit more) after an evening of shock and morbid fascination.

I was about to doze off and try to ignore my giant cold when Mink clambered down from the roof and through the window. She oh-so-lovingly laid something beside me. my fingers found it -- furry, slightly bony, and stiff.

Ye gods, this cat.

Dear Universe,

You pull the best surprises on me.
And the best challenges.

Baguio.

All big firsts,
all with their own kit-n-caboodle of risks,
fears to conquer,
hard work,
discipline,
and a ton of perseverance.

But I do believe my experiences this year will be all worth it.

You make my heart thunder in my chest,
and in my head.

You've conspired to make all this happen,
now let's make it happen.

Resolutions I can Keep

Ginisang Baguio Beans with garlic longganisa, flanked by other ingredients for Beef Stew.
(Remind me not to put so much Soy Sauce next time. Ergh.)

Resolution 1: Make trips to the palengke a weekly or bimonthly habit. (Make it weekly, which leads to...)

Resolution 2: Include more greens, other veggies, and fruits in my diet.

Resolution 3: Get more creative with cooking. (And when I say get more creative, I mean using what I already have in the pantry or refrigerator and whipping up something tasty and healthy.)

Resolution 4: Save money.

See where this is going?
