Under the almost-December weather

Hello, loves. Feeling rather wan and unwell today, which is kind of a perfect match to the changing climate.

Work+chores+socialcalls+minutemishaps+frustrations is the wolf, and a weakened constitution makes for lambchops. One of these days, I will kill this wolf, skin it and have it warm my sickbed while I smile beneath it in satisfied, unabashed, and dark glee.

Fear makes the wolf look bigger than he is -- German proverb

I will conquer this monster. In good time.

For now, I will try keeping work light, and resting more. Perhaps finishing the latest Ureshii post will help. Maybe knitting will. Maybe. We'll see.

Video Time: Of Fugues, Gavottes, and Pop Culture

We interrupt this work shift with two delightful improvisational renditions of cult classic tunes.

First, a Combination of the James Bond and Pink Panther Themes As a Double Fugue.

Falsies are luff

So, I'm beginning to have a thing for falsies. And makeup.

Oh Ellana, how I love you true.

Production in Process

Hi, everyone. Here are the pictures I took of the costume in the making. I'll most probably be making a list of things I could have improved on at the end of each item. This is also going to be a long, pic-heavy post. All the same, I hope you enjoy your perusal.

The challenges I set for myself were:

  1. A time limit. I gave myself a month to finish the entire project. This was important since I had to balance an eight-hour Monday-to-Friday job as well. Then there's also weekends off, since this was rest and couple time. It didn't help when I fell ill for most of the first half of the month, leaving me with mostly two weeks to put together the petticoat, corset, peasant top, and both skirts.
  2. I must make use of whatever materials I already had on hand. since I am (mostly) a compulsive crafting shopper, the materials I had accumulated over time more or less satisfied most of my needs. Which brings us to...
  3. Expenses. I must not spend more than Php 1,000.00 ($18.00 to $20.00) for extra items and accessories. This includes tights, jewelry, extra fabric and nuances (if necessary), and so on.

Denouement.

2 weeks of illness.
2 weeks of hard work.

20 yards of cloth.
2 fat spools of thread.
5 meters of boning.

2 Seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race.
1 Season of Drag U.
3 Ali Project albums on the mp3 player.

Hours and hours of working late into sun-up,
not to mention tensions running high with frustration, anxiety, nervousness, and sheer dumb determination.

Was it all worth it?

Yes, I do believe so.
