Making things: recycled shopping bag from a pet food sack
There’s a new city mandate going around in Pasig — No plastic sando (shopping bags) allowed.Heading into a grocery store will have you carrying out paper bags for smaller items, or large cardboard boxes for larger quantities. The fruit stalls near my place have also resorted to using non-handled plastic bags to carry your fruit in.
Our favorite pet supplies store got it right — whenever James and I bought items from them, they’d take out one of their 7kg. pet food sacks, cut out an oblong hole near the top, and put our purchases in it. It was a great idea to use the sack like a bayong, but I thought, what if I needed to use my hands for something else?
I decided to take it a step further, and now you see what’s come of it.
I hope to make “Friskies” and “Pedigree” versions of this bag soon.
Beautiful bag and awesome colour. I love customised bags for daily shooing they are much environment friendly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment! I wholeheartedly agree with you, and it saves you a lot of space that plastic bags can usually take up.
